Schweinfurt goes IDBT

Following the successful implementation of ID-based ticketing projects in Freyung-Grafenau and Regensburg, Switchio is excited to announce the launch of a new project in Schweinfurt.

Transforming Public Transport in Schweinfurt

Schweinfurt is a Bavarian vibrant city with rich industrial heritage and a strong community spirit. Currently, public transport payments in Schweinfurt are mainly made using cash and pre-paid tickets, which can be cumbersome for passengers.

Mirko Hrnjak, Head of Public Transport and Vehicle Technology at Stadtwerke Schweinfurt, says: “Our partnerships with krauth Technology, Mastercard, and Switchio demonstrate our commitment to proven technologies. By switching to a fully contactless ticketing system, we are pioneering in Germany.”

Switchio’s innovative system is part of a broader effort by Stadtwerke Schweinfurt to modernize their public transport infrastructure, making it more efficient and user-friendly.

Fully contactless transport solution allows passengers in Schweinfurt to tap their bank cards on krauth validator kt 0345 with integrated EMV card reader to pay for fares, eliminating the need for cash or tariff knowledge.

Modernizing Public Transport Payments

By adopting a completely cashless approach to ticket purchases, which includes card payments and mobile payments through an innovative Check-In/Check-Out system, passengers can enjoy the benefits of all common contactless payment methods.

This change aims to simplify the passenger experience and streamline the payment process.
