Introducing Eduard Nesiba

When it comes to revolutionising transport payment systems, Eduard Nesiba stands out as a key figure in the Switchio transport team at Monet+. With 28 years of experience, Eduard has been instrumental in designing innovative solutions that make public transport payments seamless, secure, and reliable across the globe.

Eduard joined Monet+ just three months after its founding. Back then, the company specialised in banking software and took on pioneering projects like electronic wallets based on chip cards—a groundbreaking idea at the time. Today, Eduard is a driving force behind Switchio’s cutting-edge transport payment solutions, creating systems that impact millions worldwide.

As a senior member of the Switchio transport team, Eduard bridges the gap between business needs and technical implementation.

I’m responsible for the technical design of projects and collaborate with customers to ensure the solutions we propose make sense. Once the design is finalised, I pass it on internally to create the technical framework. I also attend all client meetings to stay updated on project progress.

Eduard’s unique ability to translate complex technical systems into practical, customer-focused solutions has been a cornerstone of Switchio’s success. The team’s work streamlines transport payment systems and enhances the passenger experience, making transit simpler for everyone.

Expanding Payment Horizons with LG

One of Switchio’s most notable collaborations has been with LG, a global leader in technology and transport solutions. LG’s transport division delivers public transport payment systems based on closed-loop cards and has implemented successful systems in cities like Seoul and Athens.

When LG sought to expand their Athens system to include bank card payments, they turned to Switchio for help. This required expertise in EMV payment standards, Mastercard Transaction Types (MTT), and Visa’s Pay As You Go (PAYG) standards—areas where Switchio excels.

This was a new area for LG. We worked with them to explain how these systems function, what’s required for integration, and how to navigate the complexities of certifications. Our goal was to help them make an informed decision—whether to build the solution themselves or purchase a ready-made one.

Switchio’s collaboration with LG demonstrates how expertly designed solutions can transform payment in transport systems to meet modern expectations. By leveraging Switchio’s knowledge and experience, LG is well-positioned to offer its customers a more convenient and versatile payment experience.

Cuploop & Switchio
Every year, billions of single-use cups are tossed after just a few minutes of use. They pile up in landfills, clog oceans, and contribute to a growing environmental crisis. Cuploop, an Estonian startup with a bold vision for change, and Switchio, a payment solutions provider, found the solution to this problem.
